Goal-setting will do more to help you achieve the things you want in your business and life than anything else. It really is the “master skill” of success.
Less than3% of adults have written goals.
And less than 1% review and rewrite their goals on a monthly/ weekly basis.
Which means, if you start today and write down your goals and move forward, you would immediately jump into the top 1% of all people!
All goals should be SMART goals. Which is an acronym that stands for:
S = Specific M = Measurable A = Achievable R = Relevant T = Time-bound
An incorrect Goal = I want to achieve £50k turnover
Correct Goal = I want to achieve £50k in my business by December 2017
Can you see that with the latter, it is specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and time-bound?
Most problems in business and marketing can be tracked back to a lack of goals and clarity. Without goals, ask yourself what are you trying to achieve?
SMART goals use the 10/90 rule — the first 10% of the time is spent developing absolute clarity about what it is that needs to be done. Which will save you 90% of the time once you begin. That means getting more done in less time!
People with clear, written goals, accomplish far more in a shorter period of time than people with them could ever imagine.
